Cameron Boyce as his family open up on tragic final hours and haunting final pic

Cameron Boyce was a promising young actor with millions of fans when he tragically died aged just 20.

The Descendants star, who had been diagnosed with epilepsy, died in his sleep a year ago today.

Cameron was just 11 when he got his big showbiz break with a starring role in a music video for Panic! At The Disco.

Frm there he went on to make his name in soap spin off General Hospital: Night Shift before landing his first film role in horror movie, Mirrors then then Eagle Eye in 2008.

Two years later he landed the part of Adam Sandler's son in Grown Ups before he caught Disney's eye.

Cameron appeared on Disney Channel's comedy series, Shake It Up before getting his starring role as Luke Ross in Jessie.

And then came the part that would define him - Carlos in Disney's Descendants.

Starring alongside fellow teen stars Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart, the actors played the children of some of Disney's best known villains.

Carlos was the son of Cruella de Vil from 101 dalmations, a role he reprised in the two follow up hit films.

The films were a huge success and Cameron's career was going from strength to strength.

He starred in HBO's Mrs Fletcher and was due to begin a new project with his former co-star Adam Sandler just before his tragic death.

Cameron died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles. He had suffered an epileptic seizure aged just 20.

Just hours before his tragic death, Cameron had spent some time with his dad, Victor, who shared the final photo he took of his beloved son.

Victor bravely shared the image of Cameron on Instagram and wrote: "I miss him terribly. I hope that no-one ever has to feel the agony I'm feeling.

"The outpouring of love and support our family continues to receive is so beautiful and appreciated. Thank you all for helping us through our worst possible situation."

Speaking to People, Victor added: "There are no words to describe how moved we are by the tremendous outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, and the world.

"Thank you, everyone, for encircling us with your love and respect of Cameron and concern for our family.

"He was the very definition of human kindness, and a light that will forever shine as his spirit lives on in all who knew and loved him.

"He was the rock of our family and he always had a positive, heartwarming, insightful and caring outlook on everything and everyone.”

Cameron's friends, colleagues and co-stars were devastated by his sudden death.

His Descendants co-star Dove Cameron shared a tearful video on Instagram after hearing the tragic news.

She said: "I love you and your whole family so much and forever. There was life before this, and now life after this. My thoughts have not left you and they will stay with you."

Debbie Ryan, who appeared with Cameron on Jessie, said: "This ripped me up. I keep trying and I can't make anything make sense.

"He was blameless, and relentlessly joyful; he was good. Through and through, Cam is good, in all ways and to all people."

She said: "To our angel, There are not enough words. There will never be enough words. I couldn’t bring myself to do this because doing this makes it real.

"Letting you go is not something I know how to do. And I just can’t fathom living in a world without you. I love you, Cam. And I will love you. Forever."

Descandants director, Kenny Ortega, added: "Cameron, You will forever live in our hearts."

Adam Sandler, who had played Cameron's dad, tweeted that the young actor was "the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around - all our hearts are broken".

Descendants 3, Cameron's final film which was finished before his tragic death, was released after her passed away.
