The America’s Got Talent winner for 2020 is…

After a season of moving, timely spoken word performances touching on everything from the Black Lives Matter movement to his love for his daughter, the winner is Brandon Leake, AGT‘s first ever spoken word artist.

Let’s rewind a bit. Ninety minutes into the show, host Terry Crews began to give some results. He named the Top 5.

He first called up Silva and the Bello Sisters. The first act going into the Top 5 was Silva.

Called up next were Rae and Tuleshova. America voted through Rae.

Next up were BAD Salsa and Broken Roots. The act taking the third spot in the Top 5 was Broken Roots.

Then, Crews called up Dodds and Battaglia. Golden Buzzer Battaglia made the Top 5.

The final spot–Williams versus Leake–resulted in Leake making the Top 5.

“All five of you are winners at this point,” judge Howie Mandel said. “You can taste it; you can feel it. You will all have careers, but only one can win.”

Crews next announced the order for the Top 5. In fifth place was Silva. “You are a winner coming in fifth place,” judge Heidi Klum told him. “You unleashed your talent to the world. We will never forget you.”

The act that finished in fourth place was Battaglia. “It was such a treat to have you here,” Sofia Vergara said. “Now the world is watching you. The world is about to open up to you.”

The act that finished in third place was Rae.

“I love you so much,” Klum told her. “I am sorry this didn’t work out. You are a winner in my heart and so many hearts out there. I know we will hear you on the radio. I wish you all the luck.”

Finally, the winner of America’s Got Talent Season 15 was announced. It was Leake, and he was, unsurprisingly, overcome with emotion. As were we.
