F.C. Barcelona and Elche CF face off on Sunday as the two teams lock horns in a La Liga battle. Barcelona currently sits in third place in the standings behind Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid and look to move up in the standings. Elche is in 18th and also looks to improve.

Lionel Messi and Barcelona have had an up and down season, but they have won four of their last five matches. Barca has a strong record against Elche having won six out of the seven matches played between the two teams. Barcelona will be without Messi this go around as he serves the second of a two-match suspension after he got red card in the Spanish Super Cup.
Barcelona will also miss Gerard Pique, Ansu Fati, Sergi Roberto and Philippe Coutinho, who have all been sidelined with long-term injuries.
Elche has not won a match since the end of October and it has fallen into the relegation zone. They did close out 2020 with a draw against heavy-hitting Real Madrid and look to start Sunday’s match quickly. They’ll look to take advantage of Barca’s exhaustion after the Catalan’s last three games have gone into extra time.
