The two Iowa State losses on the season so far came at the hands of the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns.

Texas is set to get more players back this week than they are going to be missing due to injury. The most notable player that Texas is set to see return is redshirt freshman wide receiver Jordan Whittington. Set to return after dealing with a myriad of injuries so far this season, Whittington is going to backup sophomore receiver Jake Smith in the slot.
Junior running back Keaontay Ingram was announced to be out for the Iowa State game just ahead of kick off. He was questionable for much of the week in practice leading up to this game. Ingram will give way to a larger workload for sophomore running back Roschon Johnson and true freshman Bijan Robinson.
Other significant injury news includes redshirt sophomore nose tackle Keondre Coburn, sophomore tight end Jared Wiley and senior Cade Brewer ready to go after dealing with various injuries in the last few weeks. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Joshua Moore also appears ready to go for this game.
Texas is 2-1 under Herman as head coach in their three tries against Iowa State. Last year Iowa State took care of business by a narrow two-point margin of victory. Since this will be the final try for senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger, in all likelihood, at home he should be at his best.
Expect this game to be more of a defensive struggle than anything else. If Ehlinger can keep this Longhorns offense hanging around until the end, a late strike could win it for his team.
