Jonah Hill is reflecting on his childhood insecurities after the Daily Mail published a shirtless photo of the actor during a day of surfing.

"I don’t think I ever took my shirt off in a pool until I was in my mid 30s even in front of family and friends," the "War Dogs" actor wrote on Instagram Friday alongside the outlet's photo. "Probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities weren’t exacerbated by years of public mockery about my body by press and interviewers."

The photo published by the Daily Mail on Thursday showed Hill with his shirt off while he was changing clothes next to a photo of the actor in action on the waves standing on a surfboard.

"So the idea that the media tries to play me by stalking me while surfing and printing photos like this and it can’t phase me anymore is dope. I’m 37 and finally love and accept myself," Hill wrote, dedicating his post to kids who have faced similar body insecurities he says he experienced.

"This isn’t a 'good for me' post. And it’s definitely not a 'feel bad for me post'. It’s for the the kids who don’t take their shirt off at the pool. Have fun," Hill added. "You’re wonderful and awesome and perfect."

Hill ended his post calling out the Daily Mail directly saying, "Oh and Daily Mail, not even you can take that smile from my face ;)"

Hill isn't the only celebrity that has called out media publications for photos. Earlier this month, Natalie Portman took to Instagram to speak out against an article suggesting the actress had a "baby bump."

"Hey, so I'm totally not pregnant...," Portman, 39, wrote on Instagram Stories along with a screenshot of the Page Six article. "...but apparently it's still OK in 2021 for anyone to speculate and comment on a woman's body shape whenever they want? Do better @nypost."

Aside from hitting the waves and encouraging body positivity, the Oscar-winning "Wolf of Wall Street" actor is working on directing a new movie. According to a previous Instagram post, Hill has not released the title but is in the process of writing.
