Kellyanne Conway’s Daughter Is A ‘Leftist’ TikToker Who Supports Black Lives Matter
Claudia Conway, the 15-year-old daughter of presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway, is similar to many American teens in that she doesn’t share her mother’s politics, but she also has a platform: more than 31,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares pro-Black Lives Matter and anti-Trump videos to illustrate political views she described in an Insider profile as being “100% leftist."
Claudia Conway has a history on TikTok of posting anti-Trump videos, sometimes to the disapproval of her mother, a longtime political consultant who currently serves as counselor to President Donald Trump. Kellyanne Conway has asked her daughter to take down some of her TikTok videos, but Claudia Conway told Insider she “respectfully declined.” But Claudia Conway also doesn’t seem thrilled with Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, posting one video with a caption saying “when our president for the next four years is either going to be a [email protected]$t or a [email protected]$t,” appearing to refer to sexual assault allegations against both Trump and Biden. She isn’t the only one in her family to speak out publicly against the president—her father, attorney George Conway, usually does so several times a day in tweets to his over 1 million followers. Despite differences in the family’s politics, Claudia Conway told Insider that her parents are “the most generous, most well-educated people I have ever met,” adding, “My mom is also a badass.” Claudia Conway told Insider she’d be interested in having a career in “social justice activism."
"Growing up when your mom is Kellyanne Conway, it's really really hard to disassociate yourself with that image because people look at me and are like 'oh, that's Kellyanne Conway's daughter,' she must love Trump. In reality, I really don't,” Claudia Conway said to Insider, adding her political views compared to her mother’s “could not be more opposite."
Though Claudia Conway won’t be able to vote for a few more years, her anti-Trump views seem to dovetail with what young voters are feeling going into the 2020 election. According to FiveThirtyEight, Biden on average leads Trump by over 24 percentage points in polls of voters ages 18-29. That same demographic also backed Hillary Clinton in 2016, gathering 55% of the vote compared to Trump’s 37%.
2 billion — That’s how many times the TikTok app had been reportedly downloaded, as of April. The social media app, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, is used to share short videos, which are often altered and given a music theme before being posted.
