Tuesday will be the fourth game in a row that Kyrie Irving will not play for the Brooklyn Nets. Each game has been for personal reasons — of which, neither the Nets nor Steve Nash wish to disclose.

“It is a challenge when we are missing guys,” Brooklyn’s head coach said on a Zoom call with reporters on Monday. “Spencer’s loss moved everyone up the line one. The amount of load — and the amount of load is really important when you’re playing more than a game very other day. That effects us mentally, physically, depth-wise, injury risk, but also talent-wise.

“Guys are having to share more responsibility than they’re accustomed to. Then Ky being out adds to that, so guys are going two spots up the line and adding more load and more responsibility. But no one’s gonna cry for us.”

Tyler Johnson also remains sidelined due to COVID-19 healthy and safety protocols.
