Ron Rivera Opens Presser Remembering Sean Taylor on Anniversary of His Death
Ron Rivera's day-after press conference following his best win as head coach Washington Football Team came on an unfortunate day in the franchise's history.
November 27, 2020 marked the 13-year anniversary of Sean Taylor's tragic death, so Rivera opened his presser by making a few remarks about the late Washington star.
"I know today is a tough day for Washington Football fans as it is the anniversary of the passing of the late Sean Taylor," Rivera said. "I never had the opportunity to coach Sean, but I did meet him and get to know him a little bit and I admired his game from afar. He was one of those generational players, one of those guys that come once in a lifetime.

Taylor's death in 2007 broke the hearts of football fans everywhere, not just those who rooted for him in Washington. He was one of the game's best and brightest young stars seemingly on a trajectory for the Hall of Fame.
Taylor already made it to two Pro Bowls in his first four years in the league and helped lead Washington to the playoffs in 2005. He made breathtaking plays every single Sunday, even when the games didn't count. His hit on punter Brian Moorman in the Pro Bowl remains one of the best hits of all time.
More importantly, he left behind a young daughter.
"He meant a lot to this organization and unfortunately he was taken from us way too soon," he said. "So we want to continue to send prayers to the Taylor family."
