Spider-Man 3 Set Photo Reveals Filming Has Begun in NYC
Filming for Spider-Man 3 has begun. Marvel Studios and Sony Entertainment Picture's upcoming collaboration starring Tom Holland isn't hitting theaters until December 2021, but production is already in its early stages as revealed in new images.
There has been a lack of official MCU news due to the coronavirus pandemic throwing a wrench at the franchise's schedule. However, it's been an interesting last few weeks for Spider-Man 3 with a couple of exciting casting updates including Jamie Foxx is reportedly reprising his role as Max Dillon, aka Electro from 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This was followed by another casting announcement claiming that Benedict Cumberbatch has also joined the project to reprise his role as Doctor Strange. No word yet from either Marvel Studios or Sony regarding these, but if new filming notices plastered in New York is to be believed, it's only a matter of time before substantial information about the project comes out.

Posted on Reddit by a user with the handle u/jojokilolo is a snap of shooting announcements in New York for "Serenity Now" — the working title for Spider-Man 3. As it turns out, they already filmed on October 14, with another scheduled day of production today, October 15. Check out the image below:
Previously, an image of a different filming notice for Spider-Man 3 also made the rounds online, indicating that that shooting will take place on October 16. While the announcements do not reveal where these locations are, it's safe to say that the separate advisory is pertaining to a different place setting, as also hinted by the background of the images. For those who are hoping to catch a glimpse of Holland or any other cast member, however, chances are that there won't be any major actors involved with these shoots. If anything, these will be for establishing and exterior shots only just so the film can lock those down before they bring in the talents.
These signages are a good indication that proper principal photography will take place very soon. Holland has been busy filming the Uncharted film in Europe, but with that also distributed by Sony, they're able to arrange the filming schedule for the actor accordingly. Perhaps Marvel Studios can begin with other cast members first while waiting for their lead star to be available. Whatever the case may be, the fans can expect some official updates regarding Spider-Man 3 very soon — perhaps starting with its title, as well as, some notable casting. Recently, host Jimmy Kimmel jokingly "revealed" that he's supposedly tapped as Kraven the Hunter, but hopefully soon some more official updates come out.
