The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the more talented teams in the league simply due to the fact that they are led by the star duo of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. However, there is more to this team than just the stars.

They have a nice group of young players such as Shake Milton and Tyrese Maxey as well as Matisse Thybulle who all have made an impact in the early part of the season. The depth the team possesses was part of the reason why the Sixers got off to a 7-1 start before injuries and the health and safety protocols took over the team.

Now that guys like Milton and Tobias Harris are all back, the team has gotten back on track a bit and they are continuing to grow as a team. They had a solid win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday where Embiid erupted and had a big game, but they also got important contributions from Harris, Milton, and Thybulle.

Their contributions have made Embiid excited for the Sixers and what they can accomplish on the floor.

“We got a bright future,” said Embiid. “We got a bunch of young players. You start with the top ones, Tobias and Ben. Then you add that to the rookies. Maxey, Shake, whose doing a great job, Matisse who has been amazing, and you add that to the vet presence to that too, which I think has helped us a lot.”

Combine the efforts of the youngsters with the talent of the stars as well as some important veterans such as Dwight Howard, Danny Green, and Seth Curry, and the Sixers are feeling confident about their chances. Howard has been the one who has surprised Embiid the most and it has him feeling hopeful, but he also understands that the Sixers have a lot of work to do still.

“Dwight, despite what you hear about his past, when he came to the team I could have never thought that whatever I heard was true,” the big fella added. “He’s a great teammate. Probably one of the best that I’ve ever had, always great energy, always smiling, uplifting everybody. So we got a great group of guys, but we still got to take it to the next level. We got a long way to go.”

Embiid has been playing at an MVP type level to begin the season and the Sixers have benefited from that. Now, it appears that they have the right supporting cast around them to continue to grow as a team.
