Monday marks the end of the road for the Chemical Bank brand, which completed its $3.6 billion merger with Detroit-based TCF Financial Corp. last year.

As of Monday the approximately 200 remaining banking facilities that still maintained the Midland-based Chemical Bank branding were being retrofitted with TCF Bank signs. Additionally, all customer will now share a common digital banking and mobile app experience, branded as TCF Bank.

In an interview Monday morning with Crain's, TCF Bank Executive Vice President for Regional Banking Mike Jones noted that customers of Chemical Bank will see little difference and still experience "the same commitment" they've long enjoyed.

"So none of that has changed," said Jones. "It actually, in our view, has been enhanced in our ability to serve those communities because of the strength of bringing these two organizations together."

The bank has approximately 475 banking centers, primarily in Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota with additional locations in Colorado, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The largest bank now headquartered in Michigan, TCF also announced a new advertising campaign with Southfield-based agency Doner Partners LLC.

TCF Bank last month pledged to create a $1 billion loan fund for minority and women-owned business in communities including Detroit.
