Grizzlies acquire draft rights to TCU’s Desmond Bane in reported trade with Boston Celtics | Commercial Appeal

Just a perfect fit for Des, who joins an incredible young core in Memphis.

He led the Big 12 in 3-point shooting last season while averaging 16.6 points per game. He was also the only Big 12 player to finish in the top ten in points, rebounds and assists. Bane compared his game to Eric Gordon and Joe Harris as far as players who can shoot and have strong bodies. But he’s also has an idea how he’ll fit with his new team. “Ja Morant obviously is a great player and is great getting in the lane and Jaren Jackson draws a lot of attention so being able to spread the floor and being a willing defender I think will be huge for me early in my career,” Bane said in a press conference with media Wednesday.

One pick later, and he might have been a Mav, but incredible to see Des go in round one.

The dream of every young basketball player has officially come true for Desmond Bane: He’s heading to the NBA. The former TCU shooting guard was selected by the Boston Celtics with 30th overall pick of the draft on Wednesday. But according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Bane is heading to the Memphis Grizzlies via a trade.

TCU women’s basketball just trying to have fun amid COVID-19, challenging times | The Star-Telegram

From a second place finish to predicted ninth? Hmm...

The pandemic continues to create obstacles, too, with positive tests and close contact sidelining players for an extended period. Like just about every other team, TCU has battled its share of COVID-related issues in prepping for the season. “This season may not always go to the most talented players or team, but the healthiest team,” Pebley said. “These women just continue to astound me with their choices that they make and the grit and toughness that they’re showing mentally as well as physically. I doubt there’s a team in the country that has not been impacted in some way, whether it’s close contact or positives or quarantine. “These are relationship-driven people, so you ask them to go be in their room by themselves for two weeks, you can’t create a worse scenario for relationship-driven people. I’ve been super impressed with how they’ve handled it all. There’s no complaining. There’s an appreciation for every day we get to be out there practicing.”

TCU must ‘score more points,’ but Patterson won’t evaluate program until end of season

There needs to be some serious evaluation in the John Justin Athletic Center.

Outside of that, though, Patterson isn’t ready to draw any conclusions on the program. He made a number of offseason adjustments in hopes of jump-starting the offense, including hiring Jerry Kill to oversee the entire operation, stripping Sonny Cumbie of play-calling duties in favor of Doug Meacham and moving Jarrett Anderson to coach the offensive line. But Patterson wasn’t ready to offer any sort of evaluation on the offense after seven games and going into a bye week. “You know me, I evaluate at the end of the season,” Patterson said. “That’s when we’ve always evaluated. If you’re not careful, you spend all of your time evaluating and you don’t win ballgames. We’ve got two ballgames left. Right now we’re trying to beat Kansas and that’s what we worked on today and recruiting. This being an off week recruiting is a priority along with preparing for Kansas. “We’ll evaluate like we always have at the end of the season and do what we think we need to do to get better.”
