Warning: This article contains major The Babysitter: Killer Queen spoilers. You probably knew that before you clicked, but still.

If you watched to the end of the credits of the 2017 horror-comedy The Babysitter, you probably weren’t surprised that director McG made a sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, which premiered on Netflix today. Because, spoiler alert, there is a mid-credits scene at the end of The Babysitter that revealed Samara Weaving‘s character, a murderous babysitter named Bee, was not, in fact, dead. Double spoiler alert: Though she wasn’t listed in the film’s credits prior to release, Weaving does show up in The Babysitter 2… but not until the very end of the movie.

In case you clicked on this article before watching the movie, here’s a quick summary: Cole (Judah Lewis) is now a junior in high school, and he’s not dealing with his 12-year-old self’s trauma very well. Even though he knows his old babysitter is the leader of the murder cult, he kind of misses her. It doesn’t help that his parents (Ken Marino and Leslie Bibb) don’t believe the whole murder cult thing even happened and want to send him to a psychiatric hospital. Cole hopes to forget his troubles when his crush Melanie (Emily Alyn Lind) convinces him to ditch school for a lakehouse getaway with her and friends. But—triple spoiler alert—it turns out Melanie is in the murder cult, too. All of the ex-members of the cult (Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell, Andrew Bachelor, and Bella Thorne) are back, apparently not dead. So Cole teams up with a new girl at his school named Phoebe (Jenna Ortega), who, despite rumors, seems to be the only one around who hasn’t murdered someone.

Now that you’re all caught up, let’s get into The Babysitter 2 ending.

What is The Babysitter: Killer Queen ending, explained?

Don’t worry: Samara Weaving does come back, for a big scene at the end of The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Melanie, the new cult leader, performs some kind of satanic ritual at a place called Pirate’s Cove. And it works! Bee rises out of the sea. Melanie collects everyone’s blood, and everyone drinks from it. Unfortunately, the ritual called for “the blood of the innocent,” and as it turns out, Cole is no longer innocent, having had sex with Phoebe. As a result of the tainted blood mixture, everyone else in the cult dies a gruesome, body-exploding-into-dust death—except for Bee, who didn’t drink the blood.

Plot twist: Bee was Phoebe’s babysitter, too, and that she was the one in the car crash that killed Phoebe’s parents. Phoebe thought she was the only survivor, thanks to a miracle, but it was actually thanks to a deal with the devil. Now, the devil is here to collect on his debt. Double plot twist: Samara Weaving is actually good now! She made a deal with a demon to save Phoebe when she was on death’s door as a child. When the demon came back to collect, Bee, rigged the entire plot to save Cole and Phoebe from their demon debts.

Hold on… wasn’t Bee bad in the first film? She was, yes. But Cole’s love confession apparently changed her for the better. Sure! Unfortunately, she is still technically a demon. That means she now needs to die if she wants Cole and Phoebe to be safe. So, Bee drinks the tainted blood and dies a gruesome death, after a tearful goodbye. Oh, and Cole’s dad sees it all go down, so he believes Cole was telling the truth.

In the next scene, we see Cole, now a cool kid with sunglasses, crushing it with his interview with the school psychiatrist. All’s well that ends well.

What about The Babysitter: Killer Queen after-credits scene?

Ah, yes—but wait, there’s more! In a mid-credits scene, we return to Pirates Cove for a close-up shot of Bee’s ancient spellbook. The book has not been destroyed and blows open in the wind. This begs the question…

Is The Babysitter 3 coming to Netflix?

The short answer is: We don’t yet know. The Babysitter 3 has not been officially announced by either Netflix or McG. That said, lead actor Judah Lewis told ScreenRant in a recent interview that he’d be open to a third Babysitter movie.

“There are so many different paths to go,” Lewis said. “Not only does Cole’s relationship with his dad change, but his relationship with Phoebe would also be a really interesting thing to explore and see where it goes. Plus, he’s got to get through high school and I’m sure, like always, there are demons lurking just beyond the shadows that are ready to strike at any moment!”

As usual, these things usually depend on how popular the film is for Netflix. No promises, but if The Babysitter: Killer Queen is as successful as the first movie was on the streaming service, I think there’s a good chance we’ll get The Babysitter 3.
