UEFA Champions League scores: Barcelona, Chelsea, others qualify for knockout round; PSG notch big win

Tuesday's UEFA Champions League slate saw eight matches and had four teams -- Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus and Sevilla -- qualify for the knockout round. Chelsea, Sevilla and Juventus all got those victories with late winners, while Barcelona cruised to a 4-0 win with an American flavor.

PSG, in the day's biggest match, was a 1-0 winner over RB Leipzig to keep their UCL title hopes afloat.

UEFA Champions League Matchday 4 came to a close on Tuesday with eight more matches. There were 26 goals scored today throughout the matches including some history making Champions League play from American Sergiño Dest. Let's take a look at the action and top performances from the day.

Ivan Rakitic returns and opens the scoring for Sevilla: It only took 4 minutes for the Croatian international to make his presence felt when he put his team ahead early in the match with this volley just outside the box.

Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi connect : The Blues were able to break through on goal first thanks to this great connection between Mount and Hudson-Odoi.

Ciro Immobile's rocket for Lazio: The Serie A side had struggled with a string of positive COVID-19 tests, including Immobile, who was able to put on the jersey today and open the goal scoring for Lazio with this beauty.

Erling Haaland keeps his scoring streak going: The Norweigen striker opened the scoring for the Bundesliga side in the 18th minute. Haaland did well to hold his run to stay onside before executing this clinical finish.

Alvaro Morata game winner for Juventus: After conceding to Ferencvaros, Juventus came back to equalize, and then get a stoppage time game winner from Morata. That's five goals four games.

Sergiño Dest is first U.S. men's national team player to score for Barcelona: The 20 year old made history with Barcelona today as he extended the lead for his club.

Let's rate some of the notable performances on the day, with one being the worst and 10 being perfection:

Mason Mount, Chelsea: There was little to be impressed with from Chelsea despite the team pulling off the win in stoppage time. Mount's effort was commendable as the midfield struggled but was able to generate offense on Chelsea's opening goal with the assist. RATING: 8

Erling Haaland, Dortmund: The Norwegian international opened the goal scoring and converted a second for Dortmund today. He is the first player in Champions League history to reach 17 goals in 13 games. His performances in front of goal are quickly becoming a thing of legend and impossible for defenders to withstand. RATING: 10

Ciro Immobile, Lazio: A solid performance from the Italian international as he made his return to the pitch after missing two domestic matches due to positive COVID-19 tests. He led Lazio to victory over Zenit by opening the scoring and converting a penalty kick for the Serie A side. RATING: 9

Sergino Dest, Barcelona: The 20 year old was active on the flank and essential in generating offense for a Barcelona side missing an iconic player in Lionel Messi. He made his mark on the scoreboard as the first American to score with Barcelona in the Champions League. RATING: 9

Alvaro Morata, Juventus: The Spanish forward has been essential for Juventus during the Champions League group stage, having now scored five goals in four matches, including a stoppage time game winner today. RATING: 8

Champions League will return on Wednesday with matchday 4. Another eight matches are on the docket, including Inter Milan vs. Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich vs. RB Salzburg. A number of teams have already advanced into the next rounds, and there's potential for more teams to wrap up their group stage as the action continues.
