‘Westworld’ actress Evan Rachel Wood reportedly called the late Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant a “rapist” only hours after his death back on January 26, 2020, via Page Six. The harsh comments were made in light of Bryant’s previous involvement in a sexual harassment case back in 2003.

The legend’s widow in Vanessa Bryant didn’t turn a blind eye as she only knew about the tweet after a year had gone by since her husband’s death. Bryant then fired back at Wood’s remarks by posting a story on her Instagram account.

“Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least,” she said. “Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty.”

Apparently, it turned out that film producer Abigail Disney also echoed Wood’s sentiments when she tweeted at the time that “The man was a rapist. Deal with it.” Once again, Bryant went on to defend her husband and sent the same message to Disney.

The five-time NBA champion was previously involved in a sexual harassment case with a 19-year-old hotel employee based in Colorado back in 2003. The accuser didn’t want to testify in front of the court which led the prosecutors to drop the case instead. However, she did bring out a civil case against Kobe Bryant later on but it was eventually settled out of the court in 2005.
