Andre Johnson was very vocal about his displeasure with the Houston Texans and their current state of affairs.

Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon provided context to the significance of Johnson’s expostulation on social media Wednesday on “The Jake Asman Show” on SportsMap Radio.

“Andre Johnson is definitely one of the more respected Texans to ever play there, probably one of the greatest Texans to ever play there,” said Moon, who played for the Houston Oilers from 1984-93. “I think he’s a guy that the organization has looked upon for his recommendation in certain situations. So, for him to come out this strong against the organization, that tells you something that he knows inside that maybe things need to change a little bit around there.”

In addition to being a special advisor in 2019 to coaching, the general manager, and also scouting, Johnson was appointed to chairman and CEO Cal McNair’s five-man coaching advisory committee following the firing of Bill O’Brien on Oct. 5.

Johnson earned three All-Pro selections in his career with the Texans from 2003-14, and he earned his 1,062 catches for 14,185 yards and 70 touchdowns while being the consummate teammate and not complaining once. In other words, Johnson wasn’t a diva in his career, and he has been very measured with his public statements during and after his career.

“So, for him to come this strongly against the organization, a guy that is so well respected in that environment there in Houston, people are going to believe what he has to say, and they are going to take those words and take those things very strongly,” Moon said. “So, those are big time statements, and they not only went around the city of Houston, but they went national. So, there’s a lot of people that are listening to what Andre Johnson has to say about the organization, a guy who probably knows the organization inside more than most people.”

The Texans are not in a good place when their inaugural Ring of Honor member is calling out the organization, and Moon, and every Houston sports fan, can see it.
