What channel is Bills vs. Chiefs on today? Time, TV schedule for AFC championship game

The AFC championship game, in a lot of ways, will be all about Patrick Mahomes' head.

Mahomes is expected to clear concussion protocol and be ready to suit up for the Chiefs, making Kansas City the favorites to advance to Super Bowl 55 over the Bills. But if Mahomes is feeling the effects of his head/neck or leg injuries suffered last week, Buffalo and Josh Allen could be in line to pull of an upset. So the Super Bowl 54 MVP will play an outsized role in determining who represents the AFC in Super Bowl 55 in two weeks.

Mahomes was concussed in the third quarter against the Browns in the divisional round a week ago. That forced Henne into action, and a late scramble followed by a fourth-down completion from Henne to Tyreek Hill proved just enough to hold off Cleveland and move on to a third consecutive AFC championship game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

These teams faced off on Oct. 19 in what was a 26-17 Kansas City win. The game wasn't really as close as the scoreline, with the Chiefs more than doubling the Bills in yardage. But Buffalo has been as hot as any team in football in the second half of the season, winning 10 of its last 11 games with the only loss coming on the "Hail Murray" play against the Cardinals.

The Bills shut down Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson almost entirely in a 17-3 win in the divisional round to reach this stage. Buffalo offensive coordinator relied on Allen as heavily as he has all season, essentially abandoning the running game (besides the occasional Allen run) and letting Allen air it out to his quartet of talented wide receivers led by Stefon Diggs. While the Chiefs don't have a strong run defense, expect Allen again to chuck the ball all over the field with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.

What channel is Chiefs vs. Bills on today?

CBS is the home of Super Bowl 55, so the network will have the final two NFL game broadcasts of the season. The No. 1 CBS NFL crew will get to see one of these teams twice more before the season ends.

Jim Nantz will handle the play-by-play duties for the AFC Championship, while Tony Romo will add the color commentary with Tracy Wolfson as the sideline reporter.

In Canada, the Chiefs-Bills game is available to stream on DAZN, which offers a 30-day free trial, and is also being broadcast on TSN.

This is the second of the two conference championship games taking place on Sunday, Jan. 24. By kickoff, one of the Super Bowl contestants will already be known. By the game's conclusion, we'll know the NFC's opponent in the big game, too.

Neither of these teams have kicked off at this exact time all year, although they're no strangers to night games and should be ready to go by Sunday evening.
